Drive Safely This Halloween

Halloween is drawing closer, and soon, costumed children will be out and about for an evening of trick-or-treating. As a driver, it's important to be aware of the holiday. That way, you can take precautions to drive safely and keep local children safe.

Are you going to drive through a residential area on Halloween? It's a good idea to go a bit slower than usual. Be on alert — excited children are more likely to slip their parents' grasp and dart into the road.

Before the end of October comes around, make sure to check the days and times for local trick-or-treaters. Some neighborhoods might hold the event earlier than October 31. Sometimes, business associations hold "trunk or treat" events on a different day, which will cause more foot traffic. It's also a good idea to make sure your vehicle is in top shape so you can stop quickly if needed. Need an upgrade? Stop in to Billion FIAT of Des Moines to take a test drive.
