The Importance of LATCH Evaluations

Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) is used to} describe the attachment hardware used for child restraints. Child restraints and car seats can be attached and secured with the car’s seat belt, LATCH makes it easier to keep them safe and secure. LATCH is also vital for forward facing seat. To give you the most security, LATCH is evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure it meets safety standards, and at Billion FIAT of Des Moines, we want you to be informed as possible about LATCH.

The NHTSA evaluations check on several different areas, including two rear-seating positions using full LATCH hardware and a third position using at least a tether anchor. They test these three positions, and they must come back with at least a rating of good. The main purpose of the LATCH evaluations is to ensure the car seats are attached in the correct way.
